I’d long admired this matched pair of teardrop shaped South Australian crystal opals before I was given the opportunity to buy them.

They came to me with plain replacement tops. They deserved lovely old cut diamond ones – and I had this pair in the precious “box of bits” I keep in my safe, just waiting for the right jewels to match them.

I’m delighted by the union. The proportions are particularly pleasing, and the shapes and colours sing together.
