SOLD: Victorian fancy-link gold watch chain, circa 1890
This attractive 19th century nine-carat yellow gold chain features an interesting pattern.
Each link consists of two concave round rings with a small V-shaped space between.
A small ball joins them, bridging the gap at the widest point.
The next link is rotated 90 degrees, so the ball on top is now seen on the side.
Then this sequence is continued throughout.
The length is 16 1/2 inches. One end has a dog clip, the other a bolt ring, useful for hanging multiple pedants and charms.
But this does make a charming stand-alone necklace, with the clasp worn at either the front or the back.
