Ask a question

There’s a lot to love in this antique two-row ruby and diamond ring made in Birmingham in 1893.

The gemstones look like two bands placed closed together in a pleasing arrangement, all in a substantial and crisp 18-carat yellow gold carved half hoop setting.

There are about 1 3/4 carats of oval cushion cut untreated bright vivid red rubies, and just under a carat of bright and white old cut diamonds.

The beautiful scrollwork extends into the heavily carved shoulders joining the thick rounded band.

As the low setting holds the stones securely, this ring is suitable for careful everyday wear.

• Handmade in 18-carat yellow gold
• Five cushion and oval bright vivid red natural untreated Thai rubies estimated to total 1.75 carats
• Five old European cut diamonds estimated to total 0.90 carats, graded set as H/piqué
• Comes with an independent insurance valuation for $15,500
• Size approximately 6 1/4 or M, but easily resized free of charge
• Weight is 5.2 grams
• In excellent antique condition
• Will come in a Karen Deakin gift box (my antique boxes are not for sale)
