Gypsy set rings, in which the gemstones are embedded into the band, were a mainstay of late Victorian and Edwardian jewellery.

This quality example features a bright red unheated ruby between two lively white old mine cut diamonds in a substantial, domed rich 18-carat yellow gold setting.

The rectangular cushion cut of the ruby, the weight and the lack of engraving point to this being late Victorian rather than Edwardian.

The plain, clean design means it could be worn by either sex. And, due to the robust construction, it could be worn every day (but, like most jewellery, should be removed at night and when bathing or playing sport).

The size is O, or 7 1/2, and it could be sized up or down by up to four sizes. This is a complimentary service we offer with most ring purchases.
