Untreated rubies and old mine cut diamonds feature in this handcrafted 14-carat yellow gold bracelet from about 1900.

The gems are set in crimped bezels, holding them securely. A knot surrounds each one and the joining curb links are graduated, narrowest at the clasp.

The rubies are untreated, intense and well-matched, and the diamonds are white and bright.

Interestingly, the rubies come from Burma and Thailand. This is not unusual in antique items, where matching stones by visual comparison only was the norm.

It’s a relatively robust piece, which means that, as long as it is taken off at night and not worn during hard physical activity, it could adorn your wrist every day.
