Ask a question

Here’s a good nine-carat rose gold back and front Victorian locket from about 1880.

Beautifully hand engraved on both sides, it retains its large top loop and comes complete with inner frames and photos.

A thin casing of nine-carat rose gold covers the underlying metal. Unlike rolled gold, the layer is thick and remains intact when worn.

Gold back and front lockets were an affordable way to own a quality piece in the late Victorian and Edwardian periods – and they still are.

• Handmade in nine-carat rose gold cased base metal
• Approximately 5.4cm (just over 2 inches) long, 3.2cm (almost 1 1/3 inches) wide
• Weight is 12.7 grams
• In excellent antique condition
• Will come in a Karen Deakin gift box (my antique boxes are not for sale)
• Note: some of the other antique jewellery is for sale separately – please get in touch if you’d like information about any of it

Please examine the photographs carefully – they form part of the description.

I’d be very happy to send more information and images.
