Ask a question

Here’s a good nine-carat rose gold back and front Victorian locket from about 1880.

Beautifully hand engraved on both sides, it retains its large top loop and comes complete with inner frames and photos.

A thin casing of nine-carat rose gold covers the underlying metal. Unlike rolled gold, the layer is thick and remains intact when worn.

Gold back and front lockets were an affordable way to own a quality piece in the late Victorian and Edwardian periods – and they still are.
