The Australian opals are very bright, as well as showing a full spectral range.

The central stone weighs about one carat, with the smaller ones adding up to a further two and a half carats.

Lively old mine cut diamonds totalling nearly two carats supply extra light and sparkle, forming the rays of the star and the undulating circular surround.

A tiny rose cut diamond sits at the point of each ray – a sign of the care taken in its construction.

At 1 1/4 inches in diameter, not including the top loop, it’s a good size, too.
