Ask a question

Here’s a pair of sunny 15-carat gold earrings from about 1890, made for everyday wear.

Deeply dished sections radiate from the central sphere, embellished with granulation and filigree in the fashionable Etruscan Revival style of the mid to late 19th century.

The backs are closed, in typical English style – the small holes are there to prevent bursting when the backs and fronts are joined together.

Antique earrings frequently have replacement tops, something that affects their aesthetic and financial value. That’s not the case here – these tops are original to the earrings.
