Here’s a fine-quality antique ring, a classic combination of a central emerald set with a diamond on either side.

The emerald is a vivid rich green with excellent clarity. And the old mine cut diamonds are white, bright and lively.

The rounded, buttery 18-carat yellow gold setting has one tiny but important exception. Viewed from the side you can see the diamonds are delicately set in platinum, to show them without the yellow reflection of gold.

This helps to date the ring to 1900 or a little later, as there was little use of platinum before this time.

The proportions of the stones work well – the emerald, at about 0.60 of a carat, is about twice the size of each side stone.

Though quite small around the finger, this ring could easily be made larger through our complimentary resizing service.
