There’s a lot to love in this late Victorian diamond cluster ring.

The large central old brilliant cut diamond is surrounded by a circle of smaller ones in bezels with millegrain edges.

Antique examples like this, with bezel rather than claw settings, give the outline an appealing, uninterrupted scalloped effect.

The setting is 18-carat rose gold with a silver top, as you would expect in a true late 19th century ring, from a time before platinum top settings became common.

It’s lovely from every angle, with a thick trifurcated band meeting the pretty hand-pierced mount.

And the diamonds are particularly lively, catching rainbows with every shift of light.
