Here’s an amusing grumpy baby carved moonstone stickpin from about 1900.

The stone shows great luminescence, with lots of blue. The carving is very good – crisp yet delicate.

Framing the face is a 14-carat yellow gold bonnet set with natural pearls; it’s tied with a ribbon bow under the chin.

Though most moon face jewels show happy or peaceful expressions, it’s always fun to find one showing its dark side.
