SOLD: Victorian Bohemian garnet bangle, circa 1900
$875.18
Out of stock
Bohemian garnet jewellery was extremely popular during the entire Victorian period then into the early years of the 20th century.
This bangle from about 1900 has a liveliness due to the open setting for the large multifaceted rose cut sparkling main stones.
There’s also a lightness to the design in the tapering band, unlike earlier Victorian examples, which are often the same width the whole way around and have a tendency to look rather heavy.
Antique garnet jewels remain fertile ground for collectors. The cost to reproduce comparable pieces today would be prohibitive, so a novice is unlikely to confuse old and new – a real comfort if you’re unsure about age when buying antique pieces.
