Ask a question

Here’s an appealing mid-Victorian oddity – amethyst paste combined with 15-carat gold mounts and nine-carat joining chains.

It’s all original, except for the later nine-carat antique bolt ring.

And, though paste, it’s made to the same high standard as one would expect if the stones were real – as indeed they appear to all but the most experienced eye.

The pendant drop hanging from the centre stone adds a lovely finishing touch.

• Frames are handmade in 15-carat yellow gold, the chain is nine-carat yellow gold
• Set with nine graduated purple oval paste stones and one pear-shaped paste
• Approximately 18 1/4 inches (46cm) long, drop section at front is 4.8cm (nearly 2 inches) deep
• Weight is 63.6 grams
• In very good antique condition: there are some small chips and surface wear
• Will come in a Karen Deakin gift box
• Note: the other Victorian amethyst necklace is for sale separately – please get in touch if you’d like information about it
