Ask a question

The deceptively simple design of this appealing late Victorian Scottish brooch reveals great skill on closer inspection.

The eight separate agates have been hand cut, polished and set to form a domed circle – with barely a visible seam between them. The workmanship is remarkable for its precision.

The sterling silver mount covering the back is robust and in good condition, encircling the stones and forming attractive simple round borders for their inner and outer edges.

A large ring for a safety chain can be used to turn this into a pendant too, as shown if you scroll through the photos.
