Ask a question

The design of this late Victorian Scottish brooch is quite lovely, with its rounded tulip-like outer elements meeting in the raised diamond-shaped central space.

The contrasting colours harmoniously combine light, bright and dark elements – the patterns within the stones add another layer of interest. And the applied silver balls at the compass points are a nice finishing touch.

The exact marriage between the fine setting edge and the complex shape of the stones is remarkable and it shows that the mount has been handcrafted to fit them.

With just one tiny chip on one of the bloodstones, this is in very good condition. The substantial solid sterling silver back holds all the stones securely, too.
