This luscious 1.12-carat unheated ruby at the centre of this cluster from about 1930 looks stunning in all lights.

It has become increasingly difficult to find good untreated rubies over a carat in size in attractive period settings. This Thai beauty is clear and bright, with a pleasing true red hue not often found in Burmese stones, which for the most part show more pink.

It’s surrounded by a halo of 10 white, bright and well-matched old European cut diamonds set in 18-carat white gold, on an 18-carat yellow gold band.

This is ring that demands attention. It’s robust enough to be worn daily with care, so it would make a delightful engagement ring.

Please note though that it would be best worn alone, as placing a band beside it day in, day out would threaten the superb condition in which it now rejoices.
