Ask a question

Mid-Victorian Revivalist jewellery has always been a favourite of mine.

This Egyptian-inspired earrings and pendant set is a rare example of superb costume jewellery from about 1870.

What looks like a garnet and high-carat gold demi-parure is in fact made from glass and base metal. Clues to its nature lie in details such as the slightly too-bright colour of the garnet scarabs – only discernible to an expert.

It is in wonderful condition, with the metal retaining all its antique gold-like appearance.
