Ask a question

The garnets in these mid-Victorian gold earrings are saturated with glowing colour from all lights and angles.

The cabochon cut is ideal for this gem to show off its beauty in relatively large specimens like this.

The 18-carat gold frame of loosely twisted coils enhances the shape in a typically unfussy English way.

The rounded antique tops work well with the classic design but are 15-carat gold, so not original. This often happens with antique and vintage earrings, as they were usually multi-sectioned and parts became separated with passing fashions.

When it is a good match, it has no real impact on price – and most of the time both sellers and buyers remain blissfully unaware.
