This exceptional example of Brutalist jewellery from 1984 was created by two master craftsmen at the top of their game.

Björn Weckström, working for the Finnish company Lapponia, fashioned the rich yellow 18-carat gold.

Germany’s Bernd Munsteiner shaped the pale blue aquamarine. His fantasy cuts for gemstones are sought after, and fetch premium prices.

The two men collaborated on a number of pieces. I think this is a stunning union of two great talents.

The stone complements the gold to perfection. The nuggety joining links on the chain, echoing the main pendant, are one lovely detail among many.

This necklace reminds me of the icy steppes with a frozen lake as the golden rays of the sun sets on them.

My photographer, who took it down to Bondi Beach to shoot it at sunrise and sunset, now calls it the Heart of the Sea.
