Ask a question

Here’s an outstanding pair of late Georgian cut steel earrings from about 1820.

The design is typical insofar as they are long and two-dimensional. In fact, these are exceptionally long at 3 3/4 inches without the gold ear hooks. And with such a lovely light and flowing design!

There’s confirmation of their early age in the minute multifaceted round steel studs, and in the unusually shaped larger elements.

The backs show amazing workmanship, with each tiny rivet polished smooth at the base, marrying seamlessly into the thin, delicate back plate.

It’s a rare plus that they retain their original tops – an attribute that will appeal to serious collectors.
