Innovative geometric shapes are one of the reasons Art Deco jewellery retains its popularity. This six-sided French platinum ring from about 1940 has plenty of appealing details.

The central diamond has a space echoing its hexagonal setting shape between it and the rest of the ring. I always love the lightness this brings to a design.

The sides are also very finely pierced in a pretty vertical pattern.

Depth comes from the addition of raised settings for the diamonds at each of the compass points. And fine millegraining adds a finishing touch.

Though the fine gallery means it’s best not regularly worn against another band, this ring is suitable for careful everyday wear.
