Fire and ice!

Five closely set baguette diamonds form a beautiful band of reflective light in this elegant handcrafted platinum ring from about 1960.

Baguette cut diamonds need to have high clarity to look appealing.

The fewer facets, as compared with the brilliant cut, means you can see clearly into the stones, without the distraction of multiple changing angles.

Any inclusions become more visible to the naked eye. SI – small inclusions – can sometimes be seen. So VS – very small inclusions – or better, is the benchmark for clarity.

Here we have just over one and a half carats of very good diamonds, estimated by the head of Sydney’s pre-eminent gem lab (a very conservative valuer) as F-G/VS.

The delicate scrolled sides provide a lovely complement to the flashing top.
