This stunning 18-carat gold antique guard chain comes with an enamelled slide, enabling many variations in the way it can be worn.
The links are unusual and complex, each one a hollow gold ball joined by surrounding gold wire at four points placed equally apart.
There are Austro-Hungarian marks at one end.
It’s satisfyingly heavy at 47 grams and a generous 60 inches (152cm) long.
The slide has black enamel and a natural pearl on one side and the reverse has a different enamelled design.
The condition is excellent – and the slide still moves all the way up and down the chain.
