This charming linked pair of Edwardian 15-carat yellow gold lace pins in their original fitted box might look difficult to wear, but with a little imagination could be very versatile, as we had fun showing.

They could also work as a useful and pretty extender for an otherwise too-short neck chain.

Two bunches of acorns wrapped with a loose ribbon, one set with natural pearls the other turquoise, sit across the simple, secure safety pin brooch fitting, joined by a fine chain set with further tiny natural pearls.

The acorn bases are finely engraved and the ribbon edges are incised with an inner line – small but important details.

Both the pins and their box are in excellent antique condition.

Hamilton & Inches is a well-known and respected Edinburgh jewellery and silver company established in 1866. It has been granted royal warrants since before these pins were made in about 1910, continuing right up to the present day.
