Here’s a hard-to-find bezel set early 20th century diamond solitaire in gold.

Claw settings are far less elusive, as crafting them involves far less time, metal and skill.

The central old European cut diamond is a good colour, is bright and weighs just over half a carat.

It is held by a fine 14-carat yellow gold bezel with a top setting of 14-carat white gold. A fine millegrained edge adds a sweet touch.

Though the centre is 14-carat, the band is 18-carat yellow gold. It all appears to be original.

As the diamond is so securely held by the bezel setting this is a ring that could be worn with care every day.

The side profile is appealing too, with the gapped setting and upswept shoulders.
