Ask a question

So much skilled craft has gone into this pretty Edwardian double halo diamond ring, both in construction and design.

The outer scalloped circle of early modern brilliant cut diamonds sits low on the finger, the inner circle is fractionally higher, and just above that sits the central sparkling old European cut diamond.

Interestingly, the surrounding stones are early modern cut diamonds. This was and is quite common. Diamond cutting was evolving and older diamonds would often be incorporated into new pieces, then as now.

Palladium – part of the platinum family – is the construction metal. Given modern testing techniques it’s not surprising to find some antique jewellery that was formerly assumed to be platinum is in fact palladium.

The three levels have been decorated with a fine millegrain edge, subtly softened by years of careful handling.

Viewed from the side you can see the sturdy yet delicate supporting structure.
