This exquisite early Victorian turquoise bracelet has remained in excellent condition, greatly helped by being kept in its original fitted box.

The plump padlock, pavé set with teardrop-shaped and round Persian turquoises in individual collets, retains its original glass or possibly crystal back protecting a finely woven hair memento.

The beautiful bracelet links are set with oval cabochon turquoises on three sides, with the side against the skin flat – a delicate pierced plain gold rectangle that sits well and looks appealing, too.

This beauty is made for a smallish wrist with the inner circumference about 6 1/2 inches, or 16.8 cm. There is a tiny bruise to the base of the padlock, not noticeable when worn.

If you collect antique turquoise jewels you probably know how difficult it is to find good bracelets from this period. It would look great matched with one of those mid-Victorian snake necklaces which are similarly set with turquoises on three sides.
