This stunning antique moonstone brooch is remarkable for its size and quality.

A pretty border of alternating three-leaf clovers and coils in 15-carat rose gold has an Arts and Crafts feel to it.

It was made by an Australian jeweller, Willis, a prolific company more usually responsible for pedestrian, mass-produced pieces in silver or nine-carat gold. This is a rare exception.

The larger stamp is the retailer, C.E. Allen, of whom I’ve found no trace.

The moonstone measures about 1 1/4 inches by 3/4 inch.

It has strong adularescence or schiller, the effect of moonlight moving over water – in this case very deep water.

• Handmade in 15-carat rose gold
• Natural cabochon cut moonstone 2.9cm (almost 1 1/4 inches) wide, 1.7cm (more than 3/4 inch) tall
• Brooch approximately 3.6cm (almost 1 1/2 inches) wide, 2.4cm (1 inch) tall
• Weight is 9.6 grams
• In excellent antique condition
• Will come in a Karen Deakin gift box (my antique boxes are not for sale)

Karen's shop has been such a delightful find! It can be hard to find a good antique jewellery shop and some can be very unapproachable. Karen's shop is the opposite! Karen is very welcoming, warm and trustworthy. When you buy something from her shop, you can trust that it is an antique which is not always the case from other sellers in my experience.
