Here’s an eye-catching early Art Deco ruby and diamond 18-carat yellow gold ring.

The vibrant rectangular unheated rubies are scissor cut and the light bounces around the sharp facets. Two lovely old European cut diamonds sit between.

I love the bezel setting – its square lines emphasise the geometry of the rubies.

The pretty gallery continues the geometry of the top with a square gapped design.

The top is rhodium plated to set off the whiteness of the diamonds, but the overall look is gold, which always works so well with the warmth of rubies.
