Here’s an exquisite early Art Deco diamond pendant, in its original fitted box.

The major diamond is a fine early modern brilliant cut weighing about 1 1/4 carats. I love these transitional cut stones, half old cut, half modern. I think they give the perfect balance of reflection and refraction.

The delicate setting could only be achieved in platinum. There are more than 30 tiny accent diamonds, a mixture of old single cuts weighing about 1 point each, and tiny rose cuts, each weighing about 1/2 a point!

It remains in wonderful condition, courtesy of being housed in its original handsome box.

I only have a handful of jewels in such boxes in all my stock. They really are a rarity and add to the desirability of a good piece way more than an equivalent non-fitted one. Especially when stamped with the name of a known luxury jeweller, in this case Heinrich Mau of Dresden.

This is a very wearable pendant, detailed but not fussy, and the diamonds – especially that main one – dance with the light.
