SOLD: Victorian sterling silver engraved heart collar, circa 1880
$1,005.00
Out of stock
I have had various examples of this silver Victorian collar from about 1880 many times over the years. I’ve also had versions made in silver gilt, and in both nine-carat rose gold and 15-carat yellow gold.
I never tire of this style. It sits so well. The thin, overlapping links mould themselves into the contours of the throat in a singular way when it is worn on its own.
This one is a generous length at 18 3/4 inches, or 47.5cm. Silver collars are often just a little longer than their gold counterparts, owing to their relatively lower cost of production.
The design of the links is charming, too, comprising hand-engraved hearts joined at the top by an apparent ribbon threaded through them.
