SOLD: Victorian sterling silver collar, 18 1/4 inches, circa 1875-85
$1,005.00
Out of stock
Here’s a dramatic Victorian silver collar, probably from the high point in their production around 1875-85. It was then that they were at their largest and most exuberant.
It’s definitely English and from the last quarter of the 19th century – a quick look at the back shows the typical construction of the period.
I had a variation on this design a few years ago, though that one was missing the flower detail. I love these ones with spearhead-shaped drops.
This example is long, at 18 1/4 inches, and is nearly an inch wide. Though wonderful worn on its own, you can change the look completely by hanging something imposing from the clasp.
