SOLD: Victorian seven-stone garnet and diamond ring, circa 1880
$871.00
Out of stock
This pretty English ring from about 1880 features three bright pinkish purple garnets with sparkling old cut diamonds between them.
If you look closely you can see the garnets also have an antique cut. They are deeper, with a smaller top table than their modern counterparts.
The surrounding 15-carat yellow gold setting has tiny triangular cut claws holding all the stones firmly in place.
Still, this is a ring best kept for occasional wear, like so many rings from the period, as it has been delicately handcrafted in a time before the great gold rushes.
With gold in short supply, artisans perfected the art of making substantial looking but light jewels of every description.
