Lovers of Scottish jewellery, this is for you.

Gold examples are so much rarer than silver, and often show superb workmanship, as in this nine-carat example from about 1880.

The carefully chosen contrasting stones have bevelled edges and are separated by a thin gold sheet, highlighting the uniqueness of each.

The locket back contains the hair of a loved one.

This was once a working padlock but has been neatly adapted to a pendant, with the arm now permanently closed.

Fine engraving adds a flourish to the delightful curves of the shield shape.

• Handmade in nine-carat yellow gold
• Approximately 2.9cm (just over 1 inch) tall, 2cm (3/4 inch) wide
• Weight is 7 grams
• In excellent antique condition: the arm has been soldered shut so it can only be worn as a pendant
• Will come in a Karen Deakin gift box (the antique boxes are not for sale)
• Note: some of the other antique jewellery is for sale separately (some has sold) – please get in touch if you’d like information about any of it

Please examine the photographs carefully – they form part of the description.

I’d be very happy to send more information and images.

I accept returns if you’re not delighted with your purchase.
