This is a wonderful example of an antique watch chain that’s ideally suited to be worn as a necklace. At 19 inches (48cm) it’s wearable even if you don’t have a slender neck.

It’s rare to find an antique watch chain this long. Reproduction examples abound.

It’s possible to identify them though – their colour is usually too pink or too yellow. And examination using magnification will show porosity between the loops of the knots, where polishing has not quite reached the deeper parts.

This English chain is a lovely antique rose colour. It has an attractive double fetter and knot pattern and is in marvellous condition.

Every long link is stamped for nine-carat gold and it’s fully handcrafted, as you would expect from a late Victorian beauty like this.

Karen's shop has been such a delightful find! It can be hard to find a good antique jewellery shop and some can be very unapproachable. Karen's shop is the opposite! Karen is very welcoming, warm and trustworthy. When you buy something from her shop, you can trust that it is an antique which is not always the case from other sellers in my experience. I have purchased two gorgeous lockets from her which I treasure. Every time I visit, (dangerously) there is always something that catches my eye! If only I could visit more often!
