SOLD: Victorian gold guard chain, 64 1/2 inches, circa 1880
$3,015.00
Out of stock
This late Victorian gold guard chain has a very interesting pattern to the links.
Pierced stars alternate with heavily ridged links, giving a richly textured appearance. A friend called it steampunk, and it does have a look reminiscent of complex machinery.
It is late 19th century, English, and handmade in nine-carat gold.
It sits beautifully when doubled, as the chain does not turn on itself, as can happen with more open links. This is not a common pattern, but it is a desirable one.
