SOLD: Harlequin multi-gem necklace with sapphire, topaz, tourmaline, garnet, spinel, zircon
$5,695.00
Out of stock
Harlequin necklaces were a minor but engaging fashion in English antique jewellery towards the end of the 19th century.
Brightly coloured gemstones from the colonies of Ceylon and India were typically arranged like this – with round or oval pops of contrasting colour in pretty, crown-like settings hanging from a flexible fine gold chain of Indian influence.
Swipe through the photos to see the individual stones identified. The mismatch of colours gives these pieces a very contemporary feel.
