Here’s a pretty bypass ring from the Edwardian period. Handmade in nine-carat yellow gold around 1910, it features a harmonious combination of peridot, amethyst and natural pearls. 

This colour combination was, and is, highly symbolic for some, as it was adopted by many in the suffragette movement. The colours green, white and violet were later claimed to stand for Give Women Votes. They still resonate now as the colours of International Women’s Day.

Was this ring a badge of support for the movement? Or did someone just like these colours together? 

I have priced it as the latter, given no indication that it was meant as a political statement.
