Ask a question

Here’s an intriguing Art Nouveau piece that was sold to me as a collar brooch. I believe it to be either a posy holder or a scarf pin. Does anyone know for sure?

The deeply curved matte opalescent enamel bluebird has a brooch fitting, with a sharp spike at the back. There is an unknown (to me) set of marks on the back.

These bluebirds were made by a number of companies, including Meyle & Mayer. My favourites are this type, with matte enamel. They glow and shimmer in a way you don’t see in conventional shiny enamel.
