Ask a question

This quality 15-carat gold early Victorian oval locket is covered with exquisite engraving on both sides – and the edges, too – so it could be worn with either side facing up.

The empty cartouche could be left as it is or hold the name of the new owner.

The hinge is concealed – always a sign of superior workmanship – and the colour is a matte buttery yellow.

Inside is an antique photo, though I think this is later than the locket.

All in all this a very crisp piece that shows almost no signs of wear.

• Handmade in 15-carat yellow gold
